The Moenchgut peninsula

The Moenchgut peninsula used to belong to the monastery of Eldena
near Greifswald, which explains the name of the region (literally "property of monks"). It forms the south-east region of Ruegen island, starting near Baabe. Its natural boundaries are
the rift Moenchgraben (located between Sellin and Baabe) in the South-East, the Goehrener Hoevt including the Nordperd in the East, the Suedperd at Thiessow in the South and, finally, Reddevitzer Hoevt in the West. The northern part is washed by Baltic Sea waves, the waves of the Greifswalder Bodden splash the Southern end.
